Montana Sapphire Gravel

We are pleased to offer Montana Sapphire Gravel!

This concentrate is from our private claim on the El Dorado Bar of the Missouri River.  So far we've seen sapphires from these bags range from 1 to 12 carats, but the occasional stone over 25 carats does occur!  Due to Montana weather, we can only process so much gravel concentrate each season. We're estimating about 1,000 bags is all we'll be able to provide this year, so order early to be sure you don't miss out.  

Bags of gravel are available in our store: $45 for mine-run bags, $55 for guaranteed bags.   We have an outside screening area where you can wash the gravel and search for stones in a relaxed family environment.  Sunny weather helps you see the stones but we also provide a canopy for those days that it's a little wet.

We're offering the mine-run bags on the website for $55, guaranteed bags are $65, shipping included.

Information about the gravel:  

Bags are approximately 2.5 gallons and weigh about 25lbs.  The sapphires from this region come in a wide range of colors, with several color-shift stones being produced. We've seen several purple/blue combinations but we've also had a green/red color change!  You may find an occasional ruby, garnet, and/or hematite specimen.  Often the hematite has replaced various seeds, nuts even clam shells and give you a fossilized impression that's quite interesting and fun to add to your collection.

We offer faceting and heat-treating options as well as stone setting and custom designs.  We would love to assist you in setting your beautiful sapphire so that you can enjoy it every day.

Faceting services:

• $45/carat for Montana cutting - round brilliant, $45 minimum.
• $65/carat for Montana fancy cuts -princess, trillion, pear...-$65 minimum.
• $125/carat for Montana portuguese cut - 161 facets-bring out the fire in your gem! $125 minimum.
